Birds of prey are fascinating creatures. They are highly specialised hunters, optimised for top speed or for rapid turns in dense forest. Their eyesight makes them spot prey from great heights and long distances or in the blackness of night. The slightest sound attracts their attention and they launch their fatal surprise attack. Excellent senses reveal our presence, usually long before we even notice them. Due to their high flight distance, often the only option is the ‘butt shot’, which does not make it into the final selection.
